Initially writing about the chaos of the pandemic, her recent article “Four Pillars of Communication in Times of Chaos” published by Forbes on May 29th includes advice that applies to other recent events as well.

When uncertainty in the world begins to affect the workplace, employees turn to HR for reassurance and guidance. Smith recommends relying on four communication pillars (empathy, education, engagement and evaluation) as a foundation for crafting employee communications during such times.
